Origin of Ek Omkar:

At the time of Guru Nanak Dev (1469 to 1539), India'n society was full of misbelieves and status. "Ek Omkar" was the need of the time to make people understand that they all belong to same creator, so should live with peace with brotherhood.

Sikhism and Hindu Religion are two sides of the same coin. Later, under guidance of subsequent Gurus, there were time to time major changes, which were important and changes were the need of the time.

First thing come first : Tattooing is not encouraged in Sikh Religion. As per guidance from Sikh Gurus, one who believe in Sikhism should not go for any kind of Body Modification. Removing hairs from any part of body is also prohibited as it is again a form of body modification. Reason is very clear and simple : As human consider the body as a gift of God, and believe in existence of God within, so they should not make any change in any part, and keep the body neat and clean like a temple or a gift.
