Mauri Tattoos is a form of Tribal Tattoo Art. Mauri is a name of tribe in New Zealand, so tattooing developed by Mauri people is known to the world as Mauri Tattoos.
Mauri people developed very unique tattoo designs. In Mauri Tribe, it was important for everyone in the tribe to wear a tattoo, which was used to identify the person's occupation, tribe identity, position in the tribe etc.. Like warrior of the tribe were given different tattoo that a farmer.
Some time a person or a warrior was given a particular tattoo design as a honour for doing something good for the tribe or for victory in war in favour of the tribe.

Tattoos were also used to decorate the body up to some extent. Now a days, warrior patterns of Mauri Tattoos Designs are taking major part in tribal tattoo designs trend, and look very nice on a person with medium to good built.
